Hi,
first off, thank you so much for the great tutorial, really profound work.
I got some questions regarding the use of LAV CUVID. In the tutorial in the MPC-HC external Filters section it says:
"If you use CoreAVC or LAV CUVID and ffdshow to decode the video : Click on "Add Filter" and select the following in this order "LAV Splitter", "CoreAVC Video Decoder", "ffdshow Video Decoder", "Lav Audio Decoder" and "ffdshow Audio Decoder". Then click on the first one and check "Prefer", ditto for the other. It indicates to Media Player Classic Home Cinema that these filters have to be used in priority and in that order."
What Im confused about is, after the LAV Splitter should I insert the LAV Video Decoder or the LAV CUVID decoder? And should I prefer EVERY Filter??
Performance in FFDshow profile X264 and xvid is poor, the video stutters amazingly.
What I found out that the Blur and NR and the postprocessing settings are to be blamed. When I uncheck them both, the picture motion becomes fluid again.
I set everything according to your tutorial.
The automatic Profile-Switching does only work for 720p and 1080p, but does not switch to xvid and x264, if the content is presented??
The settings are exactly as u described it.
I dont use madvr and reclock.
Another general question is, should I deactivate the IP Scaler in my AVR, its capable of scaling the image to 1080p - 24hz, but i think that is not the intention when we use auto frequency, or I am completely wrong here?
Any support would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance

after LAV Splitter insert LAV Video Decoder... the CUVID decoder used to be separate, now they put them in one package...
Yes, you do have to prefer every filter, but in the exact order the tutorial described (from top to bottom)
If x264 and XviD stutter when you use Blur & NR and postprocessing, then it could be that your machine is to weak to do it... have you tried using a resizing method that needs less processing power? That could free up the power you need... It works fine for me, so it doesn't have anything to do with the tutorials settings...
Automatic Profile switching works fine with me, check if you forgot something.. maybe you set "on FOURCC match" instead of "on FOURCC from previous filter match", which you need to use if you use LAV CUVID... or you forgot to set "on movie dimension match" on AND, which you have to do in the x264, XviD and DVD Profile...

thx for the quick update...i think my machiene is powerful enough to do the job (4-core, 3.4ghz and gtx 460)...in the windows taskmanager the cpu usage never goes beyond 30% even if the picture stutters extremely.
which resizing method should i take, i took the multiply with 1.5 just as described
i checked the settings for the profile u are right, i set it wrong with the fourcc match, thx a lot
do u have a suggestion for the amp, should i deactivate ip scaling and use auto frequency ?
thx
Update:
Did the change for the profile switching and it still does not seem to work, when a xvid video is presented it switches automatically to 720p and it does not seem to detect x264 content because when i present such video material e.g. in 1080p it switches to 1080p. dont know what im doing wrong i checked all the settings for the profile
the other problem with the extreme stuttering persists although i checked every setting, the picture even stands still for some time but the cpu usage is on 25% and the HDD is not blinking??

when i jst deactivate postprocessing the video is fluid, but i dont know why
ich think the general problem with this content is shown in the picture:

i dont think this is correctly set, ffdshow video decoder shows the the audio stream?
And ffdshow audio decoder is not activated, i dont think this is right?
for mkv 720 and 1080p the ffdshow audio decoder is correctly activated with right profile.
for xvid videos everything seem to be messed up in my opinion.

Yes ffdshow Audio Decoder should show up in Filters...
have you unchecked all transform filters on internal filters in mpc options?
but since you don't have any problems with audio, the root of the problem is not there...
and no, ffdshow Video Decoder does show audio info, that is fine, its only purpose is to change audiostreams on Dual-Audio files...
but I also have subtitle info on ffdshow Video Decoder, you don't...
Do you have the newest version of ffdshow installed?
it is this one:
ffdshow_rev4399_20120322_clsid
you can download it here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow ... %20builds/

i let mpc-hc do the subtitles and yes i have the latest ffdshow installed.
tried another xvid and there the ffdshow audio decoder shows up and switches to the right profile automatically, so i think the last file was messed up.
still if i play the xvids the profile changer switcehs to 720p and not xvid, same for the x264 content but it recognizes if its 720p or 1080p, i dont know whats wrong.
and i cant use postprocessing in xvid and x264 if i manually change the profile, because it stutters extremely, any suggestions?

if ffdshow switches to 720p on xvid files, then the 720p profile is not properly set, since the profile is only supposed to take files that match movie dimensions from 1280x720 to 1919x720 are you sure your profile matches this one? http://www.homecinema-hd.com/images/ffd ... dshow5.png
It's gotta be "On all condition match (AND)", and "on movie dimension match" and chose "OR" between width and height, these are the only options you can do wrong...
btw. you are not supposed to use postprocessing on the x264 Profile, only on the DivX Profile...
as for the stuttering on XviD, does it happen with every file? or only some?
if it stutters with every XviD file, can you try a file encoded with DivX?

can you try this file, just to make sure that it is a problem with ffdshow...
http://thud.us/videos/misc/xvid-samples/flyby-divx.avi
this one works for me, so if it doesn't work, something still isn't quite right in your configuration...

with this file it switches to divx !!
but i cant believe that every file marked xvid in the filename on my whole hdd does not meet the requirements to be switched to divx profile....and if this is the case, then what profile do u recommend for my xvid files.
or should i add another argument to the fourcc in order to xvid files to be switched correctly?
thanks again for the great support.
remarkably the stuttering also happens with your test file if i activate postproc.
